Mets' Brandon Nimmo suffers low-grade ankle and knee sprain, status for Opening Day unclear

New York Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo is considered to be “week-to-week” after suffering low-grade sprains to his knee and ankle sliding into second base in Friday’s spring training game against the Marlins, according to what general manager Billy Eppler told reporters on Saturday. It’s unclear if he’ll be able to return to the lineup in time for the Mets’ season-opening contest on March 30 against those same Marlins in Miami.
